Dr. Shae Anderson
Always an avid lover of books, it only made sense that Dr. Shae A. Anderson would start a publishing company one day. Shae founded UrbanEdge in 2008, and several years later Skyy Banks, one of her first authors, came on board and UrbanEdge became a partnership. Shae serves as CEO of the organization and handles back end duties, social media management, and other related tasks. UrbanEdge Publishing is a traditional publishing company that has recently expanded its offerings to meet the needs of the changing industry and now offers self-publishing services, author consulting, and other a-la-cart offerings for authors. Shae has an extensive background in English and professional writing with more than 15 years as an educator at the secondary and post-secondary levels, editor, and professional writer; she holds a B.A. in English (Bennett College), an M.A. in Technical & Professional Writing (Georgia State University) and a PhD in Rhetoric & Composition also from Georgia State University.
Skyy Banks is a native of Arkansas and a staunch advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness for women and girls. She is committed to making her mark in the world by leading the charge against political and social injustices. Armed with dual masters degrees in public health management and marketing she has been able to marry her love for writing and her advocacy work to empower the underserved and to amplify the voices of many. She is the founder of HER Initiative, a charter member of the National Council of Negro Women Greater Atlanta Section and the co-chair of the Women’s Caucus of the American Public Health Association. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family. On any given day, Skyy is sure to be somewhere impacting lives through mentoring and other civic engagement. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
