She held a coffee cup in one hand while a purse that looked like it cost at least $500 dangled on her other arm. She wore a white, fuzzy jacket and a pair of sunglasses with diamonds on the sides, including the initials JH, rested on her face. She looked like a doll that just came out of the box on Christmas morning. Compared to her, I looked like a rag doll. Great, if this didn’t make my confidence plummet, nothing else would. I looked at the boy who was several inches taller than her. He looked…normal, like someone I would’ve seen in my old neighborhood. There was nothing flashy or expensive looking. It was just him, his uniform, and a book bag. He looked as if he weren’t interested in the crowd’s screams and questions and his eyes roamed so he wouldn’t make eye contact with a single person. How was it that she was able to take the attention while he looked like he wanted to disappear? Weird.
